EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an internationally recognised treatment for trauma; recognised in NICE (National Instittiue of Clinical Excellance) and WHO (World Health Organisation). Using bilateral stimulation to help people recover from trauma, there is also research which supports its use for anxiety, phobias, depression and other issues.
EMDR is used widely in the NHS for treating PTSD. Research has shown that it can help recovery form flashbacks, intrusive thoughts, images depression, anxiety or phobias particularly if a specific even has been involved such as abusive behaviour, bullying, car accidents, being a victim of a crime, social humiliation or any event that has been difficult to recover from.
